Iran, cont.

As students are slaughtered in their dorms and women are beaten by thugs in the streets, we have this sort of thing in the American media, defending the legitimacy of the re-election of Iranian thug Ahmadinejad. Yesterday, the Washington Post carried a similar article. Another was written by another prominent neocon, Marty Peretz of the New Republic. "He won. Get over it!" was the basic message.

Rhubarb sauce

Just sampled some rhubarb sauce brought to me by a neighbor.

Is there any flavor more associated with June?

Lance's little brother Jonny is staying at the house and working at the nursery for a while. I dished him up some sauce.

Jonny doesn't say much, but he does have opinions if you can pry them loose.

After sampling the sauce and thinking for a while, he said, "The flavor is fine, but I can't get past the texture."

Clippings

Went into the Hilton today. Aunt Olla and I got into some old newspaper clippings she has kept over the decades. There's nothing I like more than old newspaper clippings, so the time went fast until I got called back to the nursery.

We're going to miss something in the future if newspapers go by the wayside. In fact, they already have lost some of their historical relevance as their news sections have thinned in the past years.

The only newspapers afloat might be the small-town weeklies. Their content is unique to their audience and cannot be found online.
