Copper mines

Drove northeast through central Arizona today. The drive involves passing by several copper mines. Above, the desert gives way to a massive pile of tailings. Here is a largerview.

Later, I found the Ray copper mine, a massive hole in the ground. Each layer here is 50 feet tall. The machinery is huge. There is a schoolbus in this picture with a white roof. See if you can find it.

In this scene, natural scenery looms over the unnatural scenery.

The road in this picture is wider than a four-lane highway in order to accomodate the huge dump trucks. The tiny green speck in the foreground is a porta-potty.

Soon after this scene, I passed through Devil's Canyon, which featured unusual red rocks.
